A self-suicide in three acts

In spite of the non-existence of the word "self-suicide" in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, I am going to dare to use it, not only because it is attributed as the invention of a former president of Venezuela, but also because it was a reason for generalized mockery of the population at the time, and everyone in this country understood perfectly well from that moment on what someone intends to say when he uses it. It's as if it were possible for someone to commit suicide twice. And that is precisely what we Venezuelans would do if we buy back the whole package from the regime with its CNE and the official opposition with its CNP.

As in a burlesque play where an electoral "self-suicide" would be applied, the official opposition through its National Primary Commission (which we must never forget was appointed by hand by the opposition parties that fervently wish to cohabit with the regime), against the grain of what the civilized world has pointed out in relation to the tyranny that rules in Venezuela, which has controlled ALL institutions to maintain itself in power, AND ESPECIALLY THE ELECTORAL INSTITUTION, considers that an election cannot be held to choose the opposition candidate without using the "services" of the entity most controlled by the regime, and at the same time expecting that this candidate faithfully represents the opposition sentiment of Venezuelans. It is impossible to surrender more to the will of the regime.

This, to say the least, could be considered an insult to the intelligence of Venezuelans. We witness a play that passes before our eyes unstoppably, without being able to do anything to stop what is happening on stage, nor its actors. We are witnesses and at the same time mourners of the consequences of a play that we did not write, on the contrary, it was written for us, according to the interests of others. And the worst thing we could do in such a context would be to collaborate meekly, without shouting, holding hands, like a lost child, from a kidnapper who takes him away from a park. At least let's watch the play and decide what to do with it:

The stage of the play

The International Community decided for us, since the Joint Declaration of the USA, the European Union and Canada of June 25, 2021, that, “The peaceful solution to that deep political, social, and economic crisis has to come from the Venezuelan people themselves through Venezuelan-led, comprehensive negotiations with participation from all stakeholders. A time-bound and comprehensive negotiation process should restore the country’s institutions and allow for all Venezuelans to express themselves politically through credible, inclusive and transparent local, parliamentary, and presidential elections” (see U.S.-EU-Canada: Joint Statement on Venezuela, in https://www.state.gov/u-s-eu-canada-joint-statement-on-venezuela/).

It is clear from this statement that these countries, together with the opposition political leadership that no longer represents Venezuelans because that mandate has not been renewed, have decided, on behalf of Venezuelans, that "credible, inclusive and transparent local, parliamentary and presidential elections" with Nicolás Maduro Moros illegitimately exercising power in Venezuela, would make possible "the reestablishment of the country's institutions". A greater contradiction is impossible. But this is "the narrative" prevailing in the world, actively promoted by the political parties of the official opposition; and it is being applied to Venezuela, to the detriment of our present and future reality, so it is essential to change it.

This statement was renewed at the High Level meeting on Venezuela on February 15, 2022, where an International Community led by the USA (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic and the European Union, in addition to the USA, which drafted the communiqué) also started from false premises in addressing the Venezuelan problem (see The false premises of the International Community, in  https://ticsddhh.blogspot.com/p/the-false-premises-of-international.html).

Based on these false premises, apparently written in stone, all Venezuelan political activities have revolved since that moment, to the point that regardless of the fact that the regime has left the negotiating table in Mexico, we are heading, unfailingly, to an electoral process with the regime and with the approval of the "opposition", under the same or worse conditions that have always existed with a kidnapped Electoral Power.

First Act

The National Primary Commission, CNP, reports on June 2, 2023 to the public "On the request for technical assistance to the CNE" (see tweet from @cnprimariave, Comisión Nacional de Primarias on technical assistance to the CNE, in  https://twitter.com/cnprimariave/status/1664804163274825731), requesting confirmation of specifications that no one has seen in order to "request" technical assistance from the regime, based on meetings they have had with the CNE.

The legitimate concern that the regime is handling the information of Venezuelan opponents, and the possible creation of another "Tascón List", no longer compiled by the regime, as in the past, but by ourselves through an election managed by the regime with the CNE and its machines, through a CNP at its service, and this time WITH INTERNATIONAL COVERAGE, seems pertinent.

However, that is not the core of the problem. The real core is that Venezuelans commit the clumsiness of handing over our data anywhere in Venezuela and the world, when it is a reality before our eyes that the parties negotiated with the regime through that Primary Commission to manage the election of the opposition candidate. Technically, by signing this contract with the electoral devil, the latter will have access to any data of any Venezuelan anywhere in the world who registers.

It is important to point out at this point that some actors are already beginning to collect data from Venezuelans without having any legitimate authority to do so, including the CNP itself, which in itself constitutes an irregularity. The CNE itself, due to its condition of illegitimate authority of the country, being appointed by a spurious and unrecognized National Assembly, cannot do so, until there is a Legitimate Electoral Power in Venezuela, let alone a Primary Commission whose only existence derives from some parties that lost their popular representation. No one, read it well, no one can take upon himself the right to collect, on his own account and by any means, data of Venezuelans, if he is not a legitimate authority of the country.

What the CNP is doing with that document published on June 2, 2023 is to safeguard its subsequent responsibility to say that the CNE "guaranteed" them the confidentiality of the data and that they were "deceived", when a new instrument of political persecution appears. The regime will use this information for its power purposes, going over any promise. If not, ask those who were persecuted, humiliated and dismissed from the Public Administration for having signed against Hugo Chávez, or any Venezuelan who could not carry out any procedure to which he/she was entitled (from obtaining an identification card), because they were supposedly legally "protected" by the confidentiality that the State must guarantee to every citizen of this country.

Second Act

In view of the open presence of the regime in the opposition primaries through the combination of the CNE and the CNP, with the use of its machines, including the captahuellas, the pre-candidates will have to establish their acceptance or rejection of this fact. Few of them have had an outstanding position in rejecting the presence of the CNE and its machines in the process, especially the one who is ahead in the polls. But most of them have no problem with that serious situation, which corroborates what we have always pointed out in this modest tribune: that "opposition" is not interested in replacing the regime, but in coexisting with it, under the despicable thesis that it is preferable to share small "spaces" until the situation "improves". Cubans have already been waiting 63 years for that and there they still make "elections" that the Cuban regime always wins. Why is that?

If those few pre-candidates decide to continue playing the circus under those conditions, they would be committing a "self-suicide" in the terms described. The pre-candidates of the rest of the parties that organized that CNP, do not wish to confront the regime as Venezuela requires, so a result with any of them will be to the liking of the criminals who control the power, and who will be happy to raise their hands to the regime's candidate in 2024, as Rosales and Capriles -the latter twice- did in their opportunity, despite the open electoral fraud committed against them and the Venezuelans by that CNE they are now embracing.

In any case, should the CNP hypothetically "rise" for any unforeseen reason, against the interests of the regime, there will always be the Appeal for Protection filed by its agents in its TSJ to force those primaries to be held under the control of the Electoral Power. These people do not give a stitch without a thimble and act with an advantage over insurance.

Third Act

Once the control of the CNE over the "opposition" primaries is assured, the "opposition" candidate will be "selected", the most convenient for the regime on October 22, with the massive participation of Venezuelans, in Venezuela and abroad.

Since at this moment they are precisely deciding how this process will be technically carried out, no pre-candidate has withdrawn and through a massive media campaign, in Venezuela and abroad, they are convincing Venezuelans to turn out massively so that the elected official opposition candidate will be as strongly supported as possible. That is why they are prolonging as much as possible the decision of the participation of the CNE in the process. And if the mentioned candidates opposed to the CNE do not withdraw, so much the better. Who could say then that the Venezuelan "opposition" did not agree that the electoral system of the CNE, "the best electoral system in the world", did not produce the best possible candidate to face the regime?

And that's it. I thank those who have had the patience to read this necessarily long note. The whole work is now ready for the closing, the presidential elections in 2024 -or before- controlled by the tyranny, from the beginning to the end. Is there any possibility that any of those pre-candidates opposing the CNE will win? Nothing could be further from reality, even if they believe that because they have the best numbers in the polls, the result will be in their favor. Do not forget who counts the votes! The regime, together with its allies of the G4 in the CNP, will make sure that they lose against the chosen pre-candidate, by a very low percentage. They have the machines and the Electoral Registry for that, as they have done in other opportunities.

Thus, the International Community that wants "elections" in Venezuela as a way out of the political problem will be satisfied with the primary process, waiting to legitimize the winner in 2024, to get out of the vexing issue of an unrecognized regime and regularize relations with Venezuela, in the hope that little by little Venezuelans will stop emigrating and screwing the lives of the citizens of their respective countries.

But life is not that easy. Legitimizing Maduro's tyranny will not be achieved through the electoral mechanism that he himself controls. The misery of Venezuelans will not stop, on the contrary, it will increase, increasing with it the migrations, because its fundamental cause is the presence of the very same narco-terrorist regime in power, and that will metastasize in each of their countries, having given them the legitimacy and the resources that this entails. And we will all lose, them and us, by prolonging the situation.

Faced with the reality of a situation that seems unstoppable, what can we do? At least two things: the first thing is to be aware of what is happening, because it seems that there is still a lot of naive people believing that the little birds arrive by Caesarean section, desperately looking for a place to "register" to vote in Venezuela and abroad, in primaries organized by a tyranny that has said ad nauseam that it will not leave power in any way. Please! What is wrong with us Venezuelans?

The second thing would be to explain again as many times as necessary, to whomever and however, outside Venezuela, to that International Community, which has that famous "narrative" that proclaims that elections must be held with a tyranny controlling the votes, that the electoral system of Venezuela must be removed so that any free, fair and verifiable election can be possible, and that their help and all possible international collaboration is required to achieve it. That it is necessary to convince them that it is NOT the regime and its machines that decide the future of Venezuelans, but an international arbitrator in whom we can all trust. If we achieve that, maybe, just maybe, we will not commit another "self-suicide" again...
