Illegitimate CNE and elections in Venezuela

Sometimes it is necessary to review our recent history in order to understand what is happening in Venezuela. We Venezuelans have proven to be sufficiently forgetful to be led like sheep to a slaughterhouse, and the worst thing is that we do it happily, singing and dancing. And that short-term memory disorder, which is what specialists call it, is killing us, and is skillfully exploited by politicians to plunge us without escape into a criminal regime for another 20 or 30 years. But that does not matter.

Excuses such as those made by candidate Henrique Capriles in 2013, which indicated that there would be deaths in the streets if Venezuelans, outraged by an open fraud, marched to the CNE, and that is why he sent us to dance salsa and play pots and pans. But, what about all the deaths that occurred and continue to occur due to the generalized hunger of the population that now eats out of the garbage, due to the lack of attention in the destroyed hospitals, due to the insecurity of the thugs armed by the regime, due to those that are occurring abroad due to the massive exodus, those do not count? And they have proven to be even more substantial…

After that fraud of 2013 -not counting the one made on us with Chávez dying in October 2012- and the protest of the population contained by the official opposition itself, the latter continues insisting on the electoral path controlled by the regime to go to elections. It seems a thing of mental insanity, but it is not so. None of these criminals, from both sides, is crazy. We Venezuelans would be crazy to follow this path, again and again...

A group of Venezuelans who do not forget the electoral contradictions of this supposed political opposition, published a communiqué reminding the population that it was this same opposition that rejected the early elections of May 2018, the illegitimacy of the parliamentary election of December 6, 2020, and of course, the subsequent appointment of an illegitimate CNE, product of an illegitimate Assembly (see in Spanish Urgent Communiqué - 20-04-2023, in https://ticsddhh.blogspot.com/2023/04/comunicado-urgente-20-04-2023.html).

The above has not changed one millimeter since then. Why then the carnival of an "Opposition Primaries" in that context? Why now an official opposition, dressed in the garb of a new name, now known as "Plataforma Unitaria", a sort of opposition entity that is and is not of the parties of the National Assembly of 2015 -same musiu with a different cachimbo, as they used to say- decides to go to elections in 2024 (or earlier if the regime so decides) with a regime that is clearly illegitimate, convincing the International Community to legitimize that process? What are we talking about here? Of a new massive operation to convince Venezuelans that, once again, "we will get out of this" with the votes.

It is impossible for me, and I believe for no one, to sustain any seriousness or honorability to anyone who lends himself to such an operation, be it called "National Primary Commission", or whatever it is called. That is trying to cover a lie with another lie, and so on and so forth. The only thing that can come out of it is another fraud to Venezuelans.

But let us stop at this point. All the actors of the regime and its opposition know for sure that it will be impossible to go to an "electoral" process in Venezuela without another CNE that is not controlled by them. In other words, in today's Venezuela, with the regime in power, free, fair and verifiable elections are impossible, because the criminals will never give up power because their lives are at stake. And then? Both sides prefer to stage the farce of the Primaries so that a candidate emerges from there that the regime recognizes, that is digestible and that says he "lost" the elections. The raison d'être of these Primaries is that, and no other. And the candidate who has not understood this will never win such a game. The regime will NOT accept a candidate that does not comply with the profile agreed with its "opposition" partners.

Hence, it is possible to understand the crossed communications between the CNE and the National Primary Commission and the CNE's refusal of a primary process without captahuellas (see in Spanish https://talcualdigital.com/cne-advierte-a-la-comision-de-primarias-que-sin-captahuellas-no-hay-apoyo-tecnico/). This has tangled up the existence of the National Primary Commission, which is now trying to square the circle by asking for more time to define the rules for a primary that is unfeasible (see in Spanish CNP asks for time to define the rules, in https://panampost.com/milagros-boyer/2023/04/22/la-oposicion-en-su-laberinto-cnp-pide-mas-tiempo-para-definir-reglas-de-sus-primarias/). Write it down: if there is CNE in those primaries, there is a new updated Tascon List....

But the regime is crafty, it cannot afford to lose its "opposition candidate" just because the opponents going to that process there do not agree with the definitive technical conditions, ergo, with or without CNE. And hence, the agreed death of the selection process of the opposition candidate through primaries is already being negotiated in the new dialogue in Colombia, in exchange for an early election. Clearly, this is in the interest of everyone, except Venezuelans (see in Spanish Primaries for early elections, at https://panampost.com/efigueroa/2023/04/22/negociacion-en-bogota-primarias-adelanto-de-elecciones/).

It is convenient for the regime, whose wear and tear cannot stand another year, and for the official opposition of the so-called Unitary Platform, which has always wanted to designate its candidate by hand from its own ranks, without the inconvenience of uncomfortable candidates. From there, the opposition candidate "convenient" to the regime would emerge. And everybody would be happy.

This scenario leaves Venezuelans with only two possibilities to face the collusion of the regime and its opposition. a) that a strong candidacy emerges, extra official opposition pact, that unites behind him (or her) the true Venezuelan opposition, and fully aware that the regime will "win" the elections with its CNE, resumes the path of April 14, 2013, which the soft opposition candidate of salsa and pans left cut off, and poses an all or nothing with the regime, putting himself in front of the Venezuelans in the streets to defend the triumph that he will undoubtedly obtain; or b) let us take the civic struggle outside the country, with the support of legitimate institutions in exile, such as the legitimate TSJ, to appoint a CNE in exile, to continue from there the recovery of freedom in Venezuela. Both routes must be carried out, they are not mutually exclusive. Whichever comes first will advance towards the goal of achieving the liberation of Venezuela from these criminals.

The second route we have already started, requesting the legitimate TSJ in exile, in an Appeal for Protection filed on October 15, 2022, the nullity of the agreements signed in Mexico by a Unitary Platform and a regime that do not represent anyone in Venezuela, so that, among other things, "we should be provided with an ad-hoc electoral entity that can fill the vacuum that exists in the matter of electoral supervision, that makes possible the right of ALL Venezuelans, including those who are outside of Venezuela, to participate in authentic elections" (see in Spanish Amparo Appeal for the rescue of the right to political participation, in https://ticsddhh.blogspot.com/2022/10/solicitan-nulidad-del-memorandum-de.html).

The struggle is far from over in Venezuela, and it is up to all of us not to forget the steps that have been taken to achieve freedom, on pain of having to repeat the mistakes and go backwards. And those mistakes will be paid dearly because they mean the death of more Venezuelans. Let us never forget that...
