Maduro's clarification

In the best of the "don't clarify because you will entangle" style, the regime clarified to the world the role played by the parties in the Mexico negotiations. I have always thought that in politics there is no such thing as naivety. No one in politics can say "they fooled me" without being thought to be in on it. Indeed, the statements contained in Communiqué No. 1779 - 2021 of the Mexican Mission to the United States. 1779 - 2021 of the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations based in Geneva, the office that represents the interests of the Nicolás Maduro Moros regime before the International Community, ratified with all its letters what Venezuelans knew from the very moment "the parties" signed that Memorandum of Understanding in Mexico, but that the official opposition has not wanted to admit: they have officially RECOGNIZED the regime that usurps power in Venezuela (see in Spanish Communiqué No. 1779 - 2021, dated September 6, 2021 of the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, in https://tinyurl.com/57x96w3h).

What is the regime doing making this clarification to the International Community? Three things: 1) it informs that "the extremists" who went to negotiate in Mexico did so because they recognized their condition of "legitimate rulers"; 2) it states that by negotiating, that "most extremist opposition" puts an end to "an unconstitutional diatribe about an alleged parallel institutionality" or Government in Charge, vanishing the role of Guaidó since 2019; and 3) it tries to impose internationally the factors of the bought scorpion opposition that went to the illegitimate parliamentary elections of 6D-2020.

Now, the clarification is based on an alleged international "opinion matrix" according to which "continuity is given to its failed narrative unleashed since 2019, about the alleged existence of two governments in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela" and that "it is not a negotiation between two political factors that are in equal representation or legitimacy". In other words, the regime goes to Mexico to have those "extremists" remove the sanctions that weigh on their criminals but that do not have the same representation and legitimacy that they claim to have. How can that be understood?

Apart from the contradictory nature of this approach, the background is very revealing: the official opposition went to Mexico, not to solve the serious problems we Venezuelans have and which should be the subject of the main discussion, but for an unconditional political surrender to achieve survival, and "pacifying" themselves through the arrangements reached there. They went to surrender to coexist with them and the regime is publicly rubbing their condition of traitors on them through this communiqué that works as a sort of "ubicatex" pill to remind them of the reason why they went there and their condition of surrender. And just because the regime has written it does not mean that this is not a regrettable reality.

If there is something we Venezuelans despise is to be taken for assholes. The Geneva declaration reveals two fundamental things: a) we do not have a political opposition that defends the interests of Venezuelans, much less political actors that are useful to face the hardest stage that Venezuela is suffering; and b) that any "agreement" that comes out of it is irritating for all Venezuelans. This clarification reminds us that we are late in building the leadership that will truly fight to get Venezuela out of this tragedy and the quarry from which to draw is irremediably found in civil society organizations.

But the regime also established in the clarification something extremely important: by not recognizing in Mexico who is formally recognized internationally by the International Community as the legitimate government, opening the door only to the opposition parties (G4) that have sold out to negotiate quotas, it is renouncing the possibility that the Government in Charge that it does not recognize, which is the only one that has the recognition of the countries that own the sanctions, may effectively and officially lift them precisely with those governments. The regime refused to allow the existence of a representative of the Government in Charge, which revealed its original intentions to negotiate with the parties of the official opposition -as it has always done- owners of the Transition Agreement and who are the ones controlling the Government in Charge, but forgetting that the one who ultimately holds the key to negotiate the lifting of those sanctions is precisely the one they do not want at the table.

And you will tell me "but the Government in Charge and the G4 are the same", and I would say that this is true in light of everything that has happened so far, but in the end the sanctions, if they are lifted, will be with the approval of that internationally recognized Government in Charge, with the consequent responsibilities that this entails. It is up to Juan Guaidó if he wants to take the blame of his G4 colleagues, who have shown they have no problem in exchanging mom Venezuela for a pair of sandals, by negotiating to lift the sanctions on these criminals without a prior cessation of the usurpation of the Public Powers, which would be the only thing that would lead to new presidential and parliamentary elections in Venezuela.

On the other hand, the international community has been more than emphatic in indicating that it will only consider lifting sanctions against the regime's criminals if an agreement for free, fair and verifiable presidential and parliamentary elections is reached in Mexico, as stated by the US Ambassador to Venezuela, James Story, based in Bogota: "The United States of America supports a Venezuelan-led process that results in a comprehensive negotiated solution to the Venezuelan crisis. We continue to prioritize the return of the rule of law and democracy in Venezuela and for Venezuelans to be able to express themselves politically through fair and verifiable free local, regional and presidential elections, and conducted through an inclusive and credible transparent process." (see James Story, in Alo Embajador, 26 de agosto 2021, in  https://twitter.com/usembassyve/status/1430991418344886273).

If the official opposition had at least an ounce of dignity, it would have left the negotiating table in Mexico upon knowing the regime's insulting clarification. And if there was no dignity before, there will be no dignity afterwards either. They have already begun to negotiate "issues related to justice and reparations" without the regime having released the first political prisoner resulting from those negotiations and to address, at the regime's request, the "access to funds in multilateral organizations" without any consideration to demonstrate its intention to improve the quality of life of Venezuelans. Every day that passes in Mexico is a day that the regime in power wins. Venezuelans must finally accept that WITHOUT ENDING THE USURPATION THERE WILL BE NO LIFTING OF SANCTIONS. It is time for a Great Change for Venezuela...
