When things are true. I wrote in my previous note about the betrayal of the opposition hierarchy and this confirmed news appears informing us of the following mutation of the MUD announced by none other than the very Ambassador of the United States for Venezuela based in Bogota, Colombia (see in Spanish, James Story anuncia nueva plataforma de oposición. As a result of the talks in Bogota of a qualified representation of the broken bats of the so-called Frente Amplio, headed by Henry Ramos Allup, we learned today of their results. What can be said about the new change of skin of that snake? I sum it up in one word: desperation. And not precisely desperation to get out of the regime. No. Desperation for their own demise. They went running to Bogota to cry to the United States to put a floor under them because they were being swallowed by the quicksand of their own incompetence and corruption. And that was the answer. They did not even have the decency to keep the forms. They formally handed over the opposition political leadership of the country to James Story, to the point of making the announcement to Venezuelans himself. Impossible to fall lower. But this has consequences. Let's see.
After the Popular Consultation, Venezuelans finally realized who those "opposition representatives" really were, who, ignoring in our face the mandate of the Venezuelan people, decided with the comfort of someone ordering a coffee in a bakery that they would go to regional elections with the Maduro regime in office. This Consultation was openly sabotaged by the 37 parties that signed the unitary pact of September 7, 2020 where the President-in-Office announced the Popular Consultation to the Venezuelans. Well, despite all the sabotage, more than 6.4 million Venezuelans expressed their will from December 7 to 12, 2020, by answering the final formulation of the questions, which, by the way, they also tried to change in favor of going to elections. They could not, and it remains for posterity that the distinguished group of the civil society that integrated the Organizing Committee of the Popular Consultation managed to put in tune the final questions with what the Venezuelan people really aspired to, which is none other than the end of the Usurpation of Nicolás Maduro Moros first. This was not forgiven by the leadership of the so-called Frente Amplio, who have been busy since the Venezuelan people expressed themselves, in silencing and hiding the results of the Popular Consultation in their statements, as if it had never taken place.
But, as they say in the villages, we are not mochos either. In ANCO we swore an oath not to rest until the will of the Venezuelan people is fulfilled. And in that sense, to promote actions inside and outside Venezuela until that is achieved. We undertook a path that began many years ago and whose fundamental milestone was the expression of the Popular Sovereignty manifested in that Popular Consultation that finally took place in December 2020.
Derived from this popular expression, the Pact for the Constitutional Reestablishment was born, which is nothing more than the procedure to put into practice the fulfillment of Article 333, which establishes our duty to reestablish the validity of the Constitution. From this Pact, which can be signed by any Venezuelan or organization vested or not with authority, and designed so that we can sit down in a Conference to establish coherent actions at all levels, National, International, State, Municipal and Parochial, to get out of tyranny. It is that clear.
But that is not the route that the political factors gathered under the so-called Broad Front wish to follow. They want elections with the regime in office and for us to participate in them against what Venezuelans constitutionally decided in December 2020. I did not invent this, it was said by Juan Pablo Guanipa in an act in the State of Carabobo, on January 11, 2021, and which I reviewed in a previous article (see From Gaviria to Guanipa, a long electoral road, en https://ticsddhh.blogspot.com/p/from-gaviria-to-guanipa-long-electoral.html).
What is the essence of the argument? That if the international factors support an election with Nicolás Maduro Moros in power they would go. And that was the same thing that happened in 2004 when all the international factors, with César Gaviria at the head as Secretary General of the OAS, and the Carter Center on behalf of the Americans were supervising that recall election, and finally we had to accept a result that was later proven to be fraudulent on all four sides. And why did that happen with international supervision? Because the regime was in power and in control of the electoral system. And Jorge Rodriguez's SmartMatic machines told the world that Chavez had won, in the same way that he was later given a fraudulent triumph in 2012. For those who are still skeptical, I invite you to visit my personal time machine, taking you back to December 2012 (see in Spanish La Naturaleza delató al CNE, in https://ticsddhh.blogspot.com/2012/12/la-naturaleza-delato-al-cne.html). But still the official opposition insists that they can "win". At this point and after repeating it for so many years, and they keep insisting on this fallacy, I can only come to the conclusion that they are accomplices of the regime, preferring the crumbs that may be thrown to them from the tyranny because, among other things, they need them (not including corruption), before putting up a real fight to confront those who have destroyed the country.
Now, the Venezuelan civil society reacted to that as if it had swallowed a vomitive, and after the Popular Consultation it has started to accompany in practice serious initiatives aimed at stopping following those who have betrayed it with impunity, because it now has a clear mandate from the population derived from an expression of sovereignty, as well as a different way of organizing itself. The Frente Amplio is the best example of this betrayal of the official opposition to the country, and upon noticing this decisive step of the people, together with the fact that in practice it is already an empty shell product of a union of parties with a supposed civil society that does not represent anyone, they urgently went to seek oxygen outside Venezuela, with a proposal to the United States to repeat the history of 2004, and then try to convince Venezuelans of another supposed electoral way to "get rid" of the regime with international accompaniment.
If the United States has accepted that proposal, they have a lot to learn about what is happening in Venezuela, and I am very sorry that this is the case. And I respectfully suggest to Ambassador James Story that they review in detail the sovereign decision of the Venezuelan people expressed in December 2020 and recognized by their government. To go along with elections without Maduro having left power would mean that they have made decisions based on the lies of those who claim to represent us. Then it only remains for Venezuelans to show them that this is not so and that they are in error. It would not seem strange to me because they still believe outside the country, and especially in the European Union, that it was the Frente Amplio that was responsible for the collection of 6.4 million participations in the Popular Consultation, when it was they themselves who sabotaged the process, and that it was the common Venezuelan who by his own means achieved that historic result without the help of anyone. Maybe that is why they convinced them.
Mr. Ambassador Story, indeed we do want free, fair and verifiable elections as you do, but the Maduro regime must be out of power as we demanded in the first question of the Popular Consultation, and with a CNE legitimately appointed by a legitimately elected National Assembly, and not with the invalid one, elected on December 6, which we rejected in the second question of the Popular Consultation. This is a clear difference with the approach of this new opposition structure that is now being presented to the country. The United States must review the approach and align it with the mandate of 6.4 million Venezuelans. We are sure that they will come to the same conclusion.
The former MUD, renamed the first time as Frente Amplio (Broad Front) and now as NELA (supposed acronym for New Alliance for Free Elections), when they managed to bring the US into the equation, think that Venezuelans will follow them as a bunch of stupid people with no criteria. Crass mistake, and unthinkable for the US. They will continue to be an empty shell of a booby-trap. They will be able to deceive at first a few, including the US, with that name of "Alliance" (which they imagine like me where it came from) until in practice they continue trying to bypass the popular mandate, selling us an election with Maduro "because the US is with us", when in reality it is yet another deception to the Venezuelans. Thank God, with so much suffering, we are already cured of horrors...
