Almost fair elections

In a decision already taken months ago, the MUD has made official its participation in the regional elections called by the illegitimate CNE of the regime for November 21. That is why Venezuelans, accustomed to the decisions of this opposition, never believed they would do otherwise.  Each "opposition" political party, since the announcement of the elections for November 21, began the usual round of "tripping over each other" all over the country in order to take over the corresponding post to "compete" with the regime in elections without conditions. Consequently, it was not to be expected otherwise.

But what is different now? The coincidence of this decision with the negotiations in Mexico. If the political opposition of the regime, so called by the International Community, went to Mexico, among other things, precisely to seek fair electoral conditions, why before the end of the negotiations does it surrender and agree to participate? Why say that "We know that these elections will not be fair or conventional elections. The dictatorship has imposed serious obstacles that put at risk the expression of change of the Venezuelan people. However, we understand that they will be a useful terrain of struggle to strengthen the citizenry and promote the true solution to the serious crisis of our country: free presidential and legislative elections", is not exactly a way of pressuring the regime to change the conditions under which they will be held (see in Spanish, Plataforma Unitaria participará en comicios del 21 de noviembre con la tarjeta de la MUD, in https://efectococuyo.com/politica/plataforma-unitaria-participara-en-comicios-del-21-de-noviembre-con-tarjeta-de-la-mud/).

The firm decision to participate in that electoral event behind the back of the mandate of the Popular Consultation of December 2020, not only puts those who made that decision in a clear ignorance of the mandate of the Venezuelan people to demand the end of the usurpation of Nicolás Maduro Moros, to go then to free presidential and parliamentary elections, fair and verifiable (1st question of the Popular Consultation of December 2020), but also to ignore the decision of the people to reject the electoral event of December 6, where the parliament that appointed the CNE that calls for the elections of December 21, 2020 was illegitimately elected (2nd question of the Popular Consultation of December 2020). Not in vain Maduro wants to see from his armchair Guaidó voting in those elections to definitely validate before the world his illegitimate presidency against the legitimate one of the President in Charge.

Einstein rightly said that infinity was defined as the size of human stupidity. Thinking with their pockets as Henry Ramos Allup and the rest of his associates are doing and acting with the regime may cost Venezuelans a great delay in the rescue of the country, but in no way does it mean that the decisions they make to co-govern with Maduro will be supported by Venezuelans, and even less so by attending with their eyes closed to "almost" fair elections, as they themselves call them, that would seal Maduro's permanence in power.

And why do I say this? Because that mediocre opposition has not walked around the reality that accepting the regime's game has consequences in the face of the International Community. The recognition they are now officially giving to that electoral event means that any country that has given recognition to Juan Guaidó may stop doing so, because if in our own country those who supposedly oppose the regime officially decide that their "almost" fair elections are valid for them, nobody outside in their right mind has to say otherwise. They will surely say "that is a Venezuelan problem" and that's it, ending any discussion and accepting that Maduro is the legitimate ruler in Venezuela, throwing overboard the many deaths it has cost us Venezuelans to bring the Maduro regime to negotiate sanctions for violating our human rights and destroying the country. Do you realize why we call them accomplices of our tragedy?

This situation will be even more serious if the internationally recognized opposition accepts to go to a recall with Maduro. Losing this recall, the political opposition would have no choice but to recognize the presidency of Nicolás Maduro Moros, leaving the international community without arguments to support a presidency in charge. Perhaps this is what the G4 alligators (remember how the great Zapata used to draw them in his Zapatazos cartoons?) want and to recompose a political situation more in line with a Vichy collaborationist Venezuela.

Those of us Venezuelans who wish for a change would lose that recall because the same conditions of 2004 would be recreated, when Chávez delayed the request for a year until he was ready with his Missions and his lottery machines in the CNE managed by Jorge Rodríguez and programmed by SmartMatic, a company that became a multinational with the money of Venezuelans as a result of the electoral fraud committed. And now they are in better conditions than in 2004 because more than 5 million emigrants are no longer in Venezuela, with a technical platform "Made in China" consolidated for the fraud in the CNE, and a weak, divided, corrupt opposition eager to do business with the regime.

Politicians will get their elections as they wanted, but who will be the losers in all this drama? The Venezuelans. And you will tell me: what you want is for the tiger to eat us! And I would tell you that the tiger has already eaten us for a long time when we continue supporting and allowing the Henry Ramos Allup, the Leopoldo López, the Henrique Capriles, the Manuel Rosales, the Julio Borges and stop counting, that we all know, to continue representing the interests of Venezuelans.

We have to make a superhuman effort to look for new options, even if we make mistakes. It cannot be worse than what we already have and which must be changed urgently. But it will not be for this electoral round that we have already lost due to the acceptance of "almost" fair elections with the regime by a sold-out opposition. We will have to break this vicious circle and give confidence to other people. But first, Maduro has to go. And for that to happen we must make the mandate expressed by the Venezuelan people in the Popular Consultations of 2017 and 2020 a reality, starting by expressing our firmest rejection to the regional elections of 21N and not voting in those new illegitimate elections and much less in the criminal recall they are cooking up in Mexico. Venezuela will only be saved by Venezuelans...
