Third meaning of the word
"distortion": 3. f. The action of twisting or unbalancing the
arrangement of figures in general or artistic elements, or of presenting or
interpreting facts, intentions, etc., intentionally deforming them (DRAE,
updated 2019, https://dle.rae.es/) (resaltado
nuestro). That action of presenting reality, deforming it, twisting it,
unbalancing it is what we Venezuelans have lived for more than 20 years, to the
point that we are no longer capable even of being surprised.
The late Dr. Rosa Maria Zulueta, an
extraordinary social psychologist, insisted that the Venezuelan was
psychologically ill as a result of a deliberate strategy of the regime by
applying to us "violent speeches,
intolerance, blackmail and manipulation, deceit and bouncing of guilt, human
rights violations, political discrimination, inefficiency, corruption and
poverty", and that this provoked in the population "breaks of logic
(dissonances), hopelessness, inermity, uncertainty, frustration, resentment,
toxic rage, paranoia and reactivity". (see in Spanish, Rosa María
Zulueta, ciudadana integral, in http://ticsddhh.blogspot.com/2017/03/rosa-maria-zulueta-ciudadana-integral.html). Venezuela has
become a big madhouse divided into three camps: the regime, the official
opposition, and the rest of the Venezuelan people. And of course we are the
biggest part of that unequal cake that is bearing the brunt.
The new CNE is part of the distortion made by the regime, which,
ignoring the Venezuelan people's votes in December 2015, disqualifies the
National Assembly from the very beginning of its term of office, after the
opposition achieved a qualified majority, accepting from the Supreme Court an
"illegitimate legislative omission" because that same Assembly has
not appointed a new CNE (how could it do so if it had been placed in
"contempt", preventing it from gathering the 2/3 necessary for the
appointment of the CNE as required by Art 296 of the Constitution? ), and then
appoint magistrates from that same Supreme Court as Rectors of the CNE,
charging them and giving them back their money. It is as a tweet from Dr.
Blanca Rosa Mármol de León, Magistrate Emeritus of the TSJ says: "To appoint and be appointed at the
same time. To be a judge and a party. To be on the Supreme Court appointing the
rectors of the CNE and to be "appointed" as rector." (see twit
in https://twitter.com/BMarmoldeLeon/status/1271865004678090752), is more than a
distortion, it is an aberration of Justice, of the very essence of being a
Judge, of public decency, of ethics and morality.
Not content with this distortion, the official
opposition defends itself and from the Directive of a National Assembly unknown
by the same illegitimate TSJ, the Interim Government of Juan Guaidó responds in
a communiqué from the National Communication Center that "2. We reject this decision, we do not know the alleged new
authorities of the National Electoral Council, as well as any decision or call
that comes out of this new fraud to the Law. We reiterate that we will not
validate the fraud of false parliamentary elections and will recognize the
current National Assembly until Venezuelans can freely elect new deputies"
(see in Spanish, Comunicado del Gobierno Legítimo de Venezuela a la Sociedad
Civil venezolana y a la Comunidad Internacional, in https://twitter.com/Presidencia_VE/status/1271943626466131969/photo/1).
That is, according to the Interim Government,
the current National Assembly presided over by Guaidó will remain in office
indefinitely until free elections are held in Venezuela. In other words, this
is when "the usurpation ceases". This, as all Venezuelans have seen,
seems to be heading towards the same years as the Castro years in Cuba. My
question to the International Community (ergo to the United States): Will the
US Government recognize the results of the December parliamentary elections
with this new illegitimate TSJ CNE Directive?
And you will say to me: And how can you think
of asking that question? Of course they won't recognize them! I don't know. I
only ask an innocent question because AD, UNT, the Mesita and other associates
of the regime had said that they would go to those elections with the PSUV and
I still haven't heard the Americans say anything about this new CNE or Guaidó's
words, or that they will continue to support Guaidó after those elections as
President of an Assembly that has run out of term. The new
"legitimate" opposition institutions would emerge from this new chimba
National Assembly after these elections to confront the regime. And it is clear
that with a CNE like the one designated by that TSJ nothing will come of it. If
the International Community decides to support the result of that election, WHICH
WILL BE TAKEN OUT even if we don't want it to, they can swear by the nails of
Christ that the official opposition parties WILL GO to that process. And that in
itself is another distortion...
If all this that is happening in Venezuela is
not a distortion to the institutionality of the Republic, I do not know what
is. Neither what the regime has done with the CNE, nor what the official
opposition is doing by staying "ad infinitum" with the deputies
outside their constitutionally established period. Even, at this point, Guaido
himself is a distortion of Article 233 of the Constitution. His presidency is
no longer justified. He was only justified by the "cessation of the
usurpation" and this still does not happen nor does it seem that it will
happen in the near future with him at the head. Guaidó has shown in a year and
a half that he has not been able to resolve it. Why should we have to tolerate
that he remains one more minute without any constitutional anchor to support
him? These are big questions that we should start asking ourselves in Venezuela
if we are heading towards an indefinite Presidency and National Assembly…
Now, how do you correct distortions that have
gone so far? By going back to the source, to the origin of institutionality,
which is nothing other than the call for People's Sovereignty. It is not I who
has the magic formula to tell you how and what to resort to for this to happen,
given the level of institutional destruction we have reached. But if I raise my
voice to those inside and outside the country who understand what I am talking
about. We must start working on a strategy that leads to the summoning of the
People's Sovereignty, the Sovereign People of Venezuela to return everything to
zero again. To "reset" the whole system and to restart WITHOUT the
distortions produced by those who in bad times took power in Venezuela.
Otherwise we will prolong the suffering of the Venezuelan people. Sooner or
later people will end up understanding that this is the only way...
